Driving Miss Daisy

Daisy. The sound of her name alone brings up images of freshness. She is my daughter’s teacher, and I had the pleasure of giving her a ride home, as I came to pick up my kid from school yesterday.

My first impression of her when I first saw her about a year ago was that of an overbearing and strict teacher. As we got to talking casually in the car yesterday, my impression of her changed. I got to meet the real woman behind the tough-teacher persona. Her true character emerged, and all my preconceived notions of her crumbled like a cookie in my hand.

Before we judge people by the way they look, we should first get to know them. Sometimes, underneath a pile of rubbish is a treasure trove waiting to be revealed.
