As a former news reporter I know the importance of photographs to tell a story. It adds to the trustworthiness of the article and provides color to an otherwise ordinary story. However, there are times the subject (interviewee) requested for anonymity that they refuse to have their pictures taken. I have to heed to the subject’s request as a sign of respect. This simple gesture is important to develop rapport between you and the subject. It makes him (or her) open up to whatever question that may be thrown at him. If your interviewee is a musician, you can easily ask anything about his craft or the type of guitar or instrument he is good at. If ever he allows a back shot, you can request him to hold his guitar during the photo shoot. The subject will remain unidentified, but his story will tell a lot about his being a musician and his type of music.
