Fun Things To Look Forward to at College This Fall

As a senior in high school, you may have felt like college was never going to come, and then one day, it does. While you enjoyed your last summer with your friends back home, you’re anxious about freshman orientation, meeting new friends and participating in fun and exciting new adventures on campus. With your roommate assignment made and your schedule set, take a look at some of the fun things you may have going on around campus this fall.

Freshman Mixer

The best way to get to know other people is a party. Some groups and organizations sponsor a freshman-only affair to allow new friendships to form and promote their clubs and activities. A college event planner may even come up with a fun theme that appeals to freshman. These parties are usually held on campus and endorsed by the school.

Rush Week

If you are interested in community service and fellowship, Greek life may be up your alley. These groups delineated by Greek letters have a week every fall where they invite interested candidates to try different houses to see which they fit into best. Since each group is diverse, with different goals, focuses and membership, it’s an excellent way to find like-minded individuals.

Parent Weekend

While you love the idea of being independent and away from home, there is bound to be a time where you miss your family. Luckily, every fall, there is a parents weekend event. The campus is invaded by doting parents who do fun things like attend lectures, get tours of the school and spend time hanging out with their kids. You may even score some new bedding for your dorm or a night out at a nice restaurant.

College is a time of transition into adulthood, and while you know the focus is on your academics, you also want to participate in some fun events. Keep an open mind and know that your freshman year is just the beginning; you don’t need to do everything right away.
