Give Your Kids the Gift of Time

happy family

Whenever special occasions come up, we rack our brains out, trying to figure out the best gift to give our loved ones, most especially our kids. The thing is, we don’t have to wait for a special occasion to give our kids the best gift possible – our time.

We parents do lead busy lives, what with having to juggle work and household chores. We should remember though, that if we want our kids to grow up mentally and emotionally healthy, we should carve out some time to be with them.

For example, if you are enrolled in school or an online degree program yourself, studying together at the table creates memories and bonds relationships.

We don’t need to do anything extravagant for them. They may not verbalize it, but our kids do appreciate it if we sit down to watch their favorite TV show with them, or stop to ask them about how they day in school went. All it takes is a few minutes each day. Set aside some time to do something with them, or listen to them. It will make them feel more loved, secure, and confident to take on the challenges of life.

Happy images of childhood

Happy meal toys and occasional family trips to the mall are some of the mental images my daughter remembers when asked to describe about her childhood. Hubby and I don’t have a lot of material things to offer our kids when they are growing up. The toys that come with a meal from a popular food chain would already send a big smile on their faces. And the trip to the mall and playtime at the theme park (while hubby and I listen to muscians friend playing nearby) is a bliss. We spend a lot of time with our kids when we are not busy with work. We’re happy that our kids, especially my daughter, remember how we spend quality time with them when they were small.

Healthy Baby Check up

mommy moments

This week’s Mommy Moments theme is “Doctor, doctor am I sick?”

I don’t have pictures of my kids when they were confined at the hospital. These photos were taken when we visited our pedia’s clinic in Novaliches. They were scheduled for a
well-baby (no longer babies) check up. I think one of them is scheduled for a vaccination that day.

My cute little girl at 6 years old.

Chubby Khalil, about three-years old here. He adores his Ate and emulates whatever she does.
