When Life Sucks, You Don’t Have to Quit

I just got off the phone with a friend, and she told me that she’s so sick and tired of the people she works with, that she wants to grab her Tourmaster Transition jacket and ride off into the sunset in her motorbike. That’s just wishful thinking, of course, because she can’t just run away from work like that. Besides, she doesn’t really have a motorbike!

At some point in our lives, we can’t help but find ourselves in situations we’d much rather not be in. For some, it’s a not-so-pleasant work environment, for others, it may be a somewhat shaky marriage.

The thing is, as tempting as it is to simply ditch everything and walk away at the slightest hint of discomfort, it’s not that easy. Life is and never was easy.

When things are broken, we try to fix them. But sometimes, they just can’t be fixed, no matter what we do. When we find ourselves surrounded by people at work who strip us of positive energy, for instance, we can’t just put a spell on them and magically change their personalities. And of course, we can’t just quit our jobs at the drop of a hat.

Sometimes, we just have to grin and bear it. It also helps to look at the big picture. In the grand scheme of things, it hardly matters that your co-worker gave you the cold shoulder today despite being nice to her. Think of the other more important things in life, and you will realize that there are some things you can just let pass.
